The threaded format could not be salvaged. Sorry we couldn't just port them all over nice and clean, but the old platform was just too creaky and outdated to make the move. I know this has interrupted some conversations, but I'm sure you guys will be back to arguing heatedly in no time LOL 
This clean new platform promises to be robust, fun and easy to use, and will keep up nicely with the changes in technology over time. Plus, it will help us keep things a lot more spam-free than before. This one comes with some spiffy auto-fumigation to keep the roaches away.
Everyone will have to sign up for a new site account.
Fortunatly, signups are really easy, so it should not create problems. We do apologize for the inconvenience of having to make everyone re-up.
We're going to include notices in the next few newsletters to let people know about the changes and let them create their new site accounts. Site member accounts give you access to all areas including downloads and commenting on posts, not just chatting in the forum area.
Yeah, the accounts were not platform cross-compatible, either, wouldn't you know it. What a nightmare! Porting the old site platform was like trying to hook up standard in a metric environment - too much hassle; best to scrap all the convoluted modifications and jerryrigging and start fresh in one mode. 
Other than those two glitches, the site is actually much better and easier to use than the old version - sleeker, faster, with way more updated and useful content, lots of good new downloads, and some great new sections. We hope you guys like it, and as usual, let us know if there's anything you want to see or that needs fixing.
